Curry County is situated along the Pacific Coast in the southwest corner of Oregon. It is bounded on the south by California, on the west by the Pacific Ocean, on the north by Coos County, and on the east by Josephine County. Ellensburg is the County seat.
While there is still some mining of cobalt, nickel, and chromium in the Gasaquet Mountain area, the economy has reoriented to agriculture and timber. The county has excellent grazing areas for raising cattle and sheep. The county also produces blueberries, horticultural nursery stock, and ninety percent of all Easter lilies raised in the United States.
With its spectacular natural beauty and uncomplicated lifestyle, Curry County appeals to the adventurous. From wild rivers and untracked beaches, to mountain forests, graceful pastures and diverse watersheds, the outdoor life is worth spending some time here. With over 80 miles of pristine Pacific Ocean beaches, a fascinating collection of historic sites, two jet boat river tours, deep sea and fresh water fishing, shopping and culinary experiences, Curry County is definitely a great place to visit.
